We have a two year old 5525dn. Sometime last week a user couldn't print to it but I don't know if any error codes were showing. At some point before I got involved it was turned off and now it will not initialize. It goes through normal boot info on the control panel up to showing the barber pole and saying Inititializing with the increasing number. You can hear the fans and other startup sounds, though I don't know if everything that should be happening is. It eventually quiets down. At about Initializing 16 there is a pause in the count for a few seconds, then it resumes. At 20 the caution light starts slowly blinking, then at 32 it stops and the ready light comes on. Then it just keeps increasing the Initializing count, apparently indefinitely, at least up to several hours.
The formatter connectivity LED is a steady green and the heartbeat light is blinking normally (on-off, on-off, pause). When I pressed the engine test button two engine test pages printed.
We are a small museum in the boonies so service is not easy. Any ideas on further tests or possible fixes would be appreciated.
