HP MFP M476nw - Can't scan to email

Hi

We have recently purchased a MFP M476nw printer but it doesn't work when trying to scan to e-mail, I recieve the following message - An error occurred while sending the e-mail. Try sending again. -

this happens after i press the scan icon, i then go and select an e-mail address form our email address book (so the link to this works fine) and the click the scan button. 

I have been thurough the web interface and all test return successfully and i recieve the test e-mails but i just can't scan directly to the printer.

What am i missing?
