I have a single computer and a LaserJet 5200tn connected via a switch, and that's the entire network at present.
Computer:
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.219.187
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
So the printer needs to be 169.254.x.x, and I am trying to set the printer's IP address using the control panel on the printer.
The printer was 10.120.43.52, which I have been able to change to 169.120.43.52, but no other changes stick. If I change the first IP group (10 -> 169 in this case) only, the change sticks, but if I change more groups, no changes stick, in spite of the message "Setting saved" when I confirm the last group. The changes are still there if I go right back into the IP ADDRESS menu selection, but if I go back to the READY screen by pressing the back button multiple times or by pressing the Menu button, the changes are lost.
CONFIG METHOD in the control panel menu is set to MANUAL. I connected the printer with a USB cable, printed a test page and updated the firmware, but the problem persists.
