I have a 4000TN on a network. I'm running Windows 8.1. The printer has an optional tray 3 with letterhead. Tray 1 is the manual feed tray. Tray 2 is regular old letter sized paper. The printer had been working fine, for the most part. More later.
Came in Monday morning and printed a doc from Word. The printer prompted me to put letter sized paper in the manual feed tray. This has happened a few times over the last few months. Usually a reboot of my PC and / or the printer cleared it up. Not so today.
Anything I print gets me the prompt to load paper in the manual feed tray. When I hit the 'go' button on the printer, it prints from tray 3.
I am using the HP Universal Printing PCL 6 driver. When I right click the printer, select Printer Properties, and then go to the Device settings I see Printer auto select: Letter; Manual feed in Tray 1: Letter; Tray 1: Letter; Tray 2: Letter; Tray 3: Letter.
When I print a printer configuration from the printer itself, in the paper trays and options, I see Mopier = off, default paper size = letter, tray 2 = exec, tray 3 = letter.
I have tried everything I can think of to get it to print out of tray 2 but have been unsuccessful. I've removed and reinstalled the printer, I've changed the driver to be HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v5.1), I've unplugged it, pulled the tray, rebooted my PC, everything I can think of. And now I'm lost and frustrated, and can't get it out of my head to get on with my work day! I'm obsessing obviously!
Any help / suggestions / fixes?
