We have a small business network with about 20 computers. Many computers have a local printer. A few of them have at least two local printers. But several computers only have access to these printers through the network.
We have one computer in particular in question. A couple of days ago, this computer had access to 4 different printers through the network and 1 local printer. Then, we replaced Windows XP with Windows 7 and "lost" all connections to the printers.
We have since been able to update the drivers and reconnect this computer with 3 printers total (2 through the network and 1 locally).
We still have not been able to reconnect this computer with 2 printers through the network. The models of these 2 printers are:
HP p3015 and HP4240
When coming to the HP website, I noticed that these two models only had "Universal Print Drivers" available for this "new" Windows 7 computer.
I've tried adding these printers using the "Add a Printer" walk-through provided by the computer's control panel / "Printer and Devices" screen.
It seems that I am getting two different errors during the "installation" process.
(1) an error re: not having an updated driver and
(2) an error re: cannot connect to these printers
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
