Bought just over a year ago (7 August 2013), I'm now getting "paper jam in cartridge area" failures every 5-10 pages that
- are not documented. (the cartridge area is not a documented place that jams can occur)
- appear to happen only in duplex mode just before the second pass (i.e., after the first side is printed).
- do not clear even after the failed sheet is removed.
- may be related to overheating, because shutting down for awhile appears to cause the spurious problem to go away.
These errors, and especially the fact that they cannot be cleared by removing the failed page, make the printer all but useless to me. I've been trying for 3 days now to print an 84-page report and am still no further than p. 50.

EDIT: The problem appears to be heat-related, although it's not particularly warm in the room with the windows open at 65F outside.
I opened all the doors on the printer, took out the cartridge, and let everything sit for 20 minutes. Then I ran the job at 600 dpi and it printed successfully. But switching to 1200 dpi even 3 pages with halftones wouldn't print without the spurious "jam".
600 dpi is not very good quality, especially when printing halftones. I strongly prefer to print more important docs at the highest resolution. But the printer apparently doesn't like that.
How do I solve it?
